Scotia Entertainment was founded by Terry Holdershaw in 2002. Terry grew up in Nova Scotia and moved to Toronto in 2001 where he attended and graduated the Audio Engineering Technology program at Trebas Institute. He also took additional courses in the Music Business Management program at the International Academy of Technology. Terry's interest in the music industry started at a young age when he learned to play saxophone and guitar as well as learned the technical side of things doing sound for bands and the school plays. He played with various Jr. and Sr. High School Bands at school functions, band camps, festivals, public events and festivals as well Terry played guitar and sang with several punk / rock bands |

outside of school including V.I.N.Y.L, Ledge, Ikon and No Need For A Name. Some memorable moments of his musical endeavors in high school include Acadia University Jazz Camp, Performing with Liz Rigney, Opening for Arlibido, July 1st Canada Day Parades in New Germany, Performing for NGRHS Soccer team for the Provincial Championship, many Battle of the Bands competitions, the legendary Upper Branch Community Hall Birthday Bash amongst many other events and parties. While in High School he also started to DJ as a hobby on the school radio, school functions, fundraisers and house parties. While in college Terry decided that he wanted to turn his passion and hobby of live sound and DJ'ing into his career which was the start of Scotia Entertainment. |
In 2002 Scotia Entertainment organized several monthly songwriter and indie music showcases including venues like Renaissance Cafe, Moonshine Cafe, Holy Joes, Reverb, The Boathouse Kitchener, Laurindas Bar, Dooly's and The Circus Room. Scotia Entertainment built up a reputation and a name in the independent and songwriter scene in throughout Southern Ontario to bring the best of Canadian independent songwriters to their stages from 2002 - 2007. Bands that Scotia Entertainment has worked with include Air Traffic Control, David Hein, Dala, Tim Harwill, Adlai Waxman, Kent McAlister, Robbie Hancock, Carlos Morgan, The Maze, David Rodenburg, The Clark Institute, Emma Cook, Shawn Sage, Gerry LeBlanc, Uncle Herb Dale, Peter Verity, Jemo, Todd Donald, Kim Jarrett, Colleen Costello, Jerry Leger, Barefoot Boogie Band along with many other original, cover and tribute acts.
Terry has done sound for many bands, festivals and corporate events with notable performers such as The Phantom of the Opera, Alan Frew of Glass Tiger, Mitch Ryder, Sky's Band, Toronto Afro Fest (Sound Plus), Pottahawk Concert on the Pier and many others. He has also been the lighting and video technician for many weddings, corporate events and festivals including Toronto Gay Pride Festival (Sound Plus), Cross Canada Product Launch Events, Several Large Toronto Law Firms, and many others.
Terry has extensive DJ experience ranging from Bars & Clubs to Weddings, Corporate Events, Award Shows, Galas, Festivals, Fundraisers, Stag & Does, School Dances and Proms with notable events and venues including Wakestock, Rusty's @ Blue Mountain, 2nd Floor Montana's Downtown, Philthy McNasty's, Annex Wreckroom, Pottahawk Boat Party, Wedding with Paul Martin as a guest, Molly Blooms, Sick Kids Foundation, University of Toronto, Weavers Arms and many others.
